In 2011, The Jackfruit Company's founder, Annie Ryu, travelled to India as a pre-med student. She first noticed jackfruit at a street vendor's stall, and was intrigued by this huge, green, oddly studding fruit. It was a dietary staple in South and Southeast Asia with a number of nutritional and ecological benefits. However, the majority of jackfruit grown in India was going to waste.

Since then, The Jackfruit Company has been building ethical and sustainable supply chains of jackfruit to introduce this miracle crop to the world. They partner directly with growers in India, supporting the livelihoods of over 100 farming families.

They provide whole food plant-based meat alternatives that help people to reduce their meat consumption, shrink our carbon footprint, and reduce the negative environmental impacts of animal agriculture.

WHY JACKFRUIT?

Put simply, jackfruit is a whole food, plant-based solution that offers an inherently meaty texture. It is an extremely versatile ingredient, making the perfect template for your favourite seasonings and sauces.

It's good for the planet - the jackfruit tree thrives organically in its native land, India. It is naturally drought and pest-resistant, requires no artificial irrigation, pesticides, or herbicides to thrive. 

It's easy to grow - a single jackfruit tree can produce up to 200 jackfruit each year, with each fruit weighing up to 100lbs! 

It's good for us - jackfruit is nutritionally dense. It's high in sustaining fibre and low in calories.
